The Global Initiative for Quality Assurance Capacity (GIQAC) is a partnership between the World Bank and UNESCO to support capacity building in quality assurance of higher education in developing countries and in countries in transition.
RIACES has maintained a close relation with GIQAC since its beginning. Within the framework of this cooperation, RIACES has undertaken a series of actions that had a favourable impact on the development of the Network. Within these actions, we like to highlight:
Technical Dimension:
- Support participation at a regional workshop of the Project CINTAS.
- Support the Self-Assessment and external review processes of member agencies.
- Support the implementation of Study Visits.
- Support the implementation of a Training and Exchange Program
Political Dimension
- Support the external review of professional engineering programs by national accreditation agencies.
- Support both regional and inter-regional developmental and networking opportunities in order to establish members’ participation in relevant conferences and seminars.
Communication and Dissemination Dimension
- Support the facilitation of internet-based knowledge-sharing and provide QA capacity building tools by continuously developing the RIACES Websites.
Theoretical Dimension
- Support the development of a RIACES Clearinghouse component
- Support the development of RIACES performance indicators.
Nowadays, GIQAC continues cooperating with RIACES in its activities, and it is expected the development of several actions during the first semester of 2011.
